Project Outcomes

Sunday 05th February

1. Improved accessibility for disabled and elderly members of the community
2. Improved modern facilities for all users of the site
3. Improved quality and greater number of services provided by the facility
4. Lower running costs due to modern structure built to modern planning standards
5. Reduced carbon footprint of the facility due to modern insulation and heating technologies
6. Establishment of the North West Fareham Strategic Partnership as a method of coordinating community facilities across the local community

Establishment of the North West Fareham Strategic Partnership as a method of coordinating community facilities across the local community Due to the restrictive nature of our current toilet and kitchen facilities and disabled access we are currently able to let the facility for only 34% of its potential letting capacity. By enhancing and replacing the facility this figure would increase to 100% letting potential.

The new facility will allow a greater range and number of people to benefit from the facility. We will be able to offer facilities for a wider range of services such as WI, VSO and Portsmouth Housing Association as well as enabling weekend use for adult and leader training, camping and sleep overs for the youth organisations.

The new facility will be built to modern sustainable standards and will also benefit from lower running costs and reduced carbon emissions. This will make the facility more financially viable as well as reducing its impact on the environment.

The improvements to the outdoor area will include improved landscaping and the provision of bedding areas for user groups to use. The local council are currently satisfied with the manner in which we care for the site and our stewardship of the woodland area which has meant that there is not currently the need for tree preservation orders.

This project will be seen by the North West Fareham Strategic Partnership and will ensure that the community retains a facility that is able to support indoor and outdoor activities in a safe and secure environment. The North West Fareham Strategic Partnership will also develop skills and knowledge to be able to adapt to the communities needs.

Groups will be able to offer a much wider range of actvities through modern facilities and improved landscaping for example, the pre-school will be able to offer before and after school facilities.

Improved landscaping, car parking and soundproofing will ensure that all members of the community will be able to use the facility but this increased usage will not adversly affect our neighbours who will also benefit directly from these measures as well as improved building aesthetics.
