Currently the main beneficiaries of our facility are young people aged from 2 to 18. They are represented by the following organisations:
- The Scout Association who cater for boys and girls aged 6 to 18
- The Guide Association who cater for girls aged 6 to 16
- "Little Munchkins" Pre-School who cater for boys and girls aged 2 to 8
- "Mandaleigh" Dance School for children and young adults aged 4 to 18
These groups broadly share the same needs which consist of a safe indoor space and an enclosed outdoor area for games and creative development. Modern kitchen and toilet facilities will enable personal development and independence and a wider variety of activities.
In addition to youth development we have a number of other groups who use our facility for their activities. They are:
"Scallywags" dog training club - adult dog owners
Members of the community who receive services from the local council. For example, the centre was recently used to distribute bus passes.
The electorate also use the facility as a polling station.
All of these groups will continue to benefit from our project and will be able to extend the reach of their activities by taking advantage of the improved accessibility and facilities that we intend to offer. This includes increased facility utilisation for disabled members of the community as well as enabling the use of the large hall for elderly community member activities during the day whilst the small hall is in use by the pre-school. This allows the existing groups to continue to operate in their current capacity and opens up the opportunity for them to extend their usage at weekends. The pre-school will also be able to offer before and after school child care facilities.
The youth organisations and pre-school will also benefit from our project as they will be able to hire the facility for running training courses such as First Aid and pre-school assistant training.
